Mysterious blue waterfall basin, the setting of a legend of a beautiful girl and a giant snake. Located on the Edagawa River, a tributary of the Niyodo River, this pool is a sanctuary of the beautiful and fantastic Niyodo blue.
It is said that the same blue color cannot be seen throughout the year. Depending on the time of day when the sunlight pours in and the angle of the light depending on the season, the color changes to various shades of blue, and a fantastic blue world of the beautiful surface of the water can be seen, just like the sparkle of a jewel.
This is an unexplored area where legend has it that a serpent, believed to be an incarnation of the water god, dwells, and it is a sacred place that local people do not approach. Entry into the water, eating, drinking, and using the restroom are prohibited.
The trail from the road to the riverbed descends steeply, but ropes and chains are provided, and it takes only about 10 minutes to reach the waterfall basin.
